You never forget your first time.......

God I love this man,,,he always makes me weak in the knees.....Not in a sexual way,but in an, i love this man way....Let me expalin....
It was 1992 and i was even old enough to vote but Sam and i drove to Nashville to the grand ole opry to see Bill Clinton speak. And from the moment he took the stage to the moment he shook my hand i felt that i was watching greatness. He made me passionate about my country, and made me want to do everything i could to get him elected. I drove around with my Clinton/Gore bumpersticker on my beat up Bronco. I worked at the headquarters and partied at the Democrat party after he won.
Since than i have mostly felt that with politics you pick the least of 2 evils, and i was beginning to feel that way with this election, that was until his speech tonight. I am now not just voting for Obama because he is the Democratic candidate, but because i believe he can turn this country around. I am once again excited about politics, and am psyched to take part in the election process come November. I cant wait to hear Obama speak tomorrow.....Yah

Rant Rant.... i gotta rant

Okay, so i have to rant....This is not aimed at anyone, just a general rantiness.....

So i have had a few people ask me in the past few weeks....why am i going green, why have i changed my beauty products, cleaning products, using more organics, and basically worried about toxins in my products when i do Not so nice stuff to myself on a daily basis....

I have always been concerned about the environment, i started the environmental club at my school for petes sake. I have been using tote bags at the grocery for awhile and d and i have been recycling for as long as we have been together.

I guess it all really started to bother me when we moved in the new house. Arond that time i read "Gorgeously Green" and "Not a pretty face," and i really started thinking more about not just myself but my environment, the space surrounding me everyday. The EPA visited the hospital and tested our water and what they found was alarming. The amount of narcotics and hormones was thru the roof....much like our water supply in general.

We are surrounded by toxins just by walking but i decided i wanted to try and protect my family when i could. I will use a less toxic alternative when it is available. So i first started with cleaning products. Studies show childhood asthma has increased over the years due to chemicals that are inhaled from household cleaning supplies. I like the fact that Coen can help me clean and i dont worry anymore, and i love the natural smell my house has. I hate the "clean" chemical smell now...

I next moved to bath and laundry products. I never thought about all of the "bad" stuff that i was literally bathing myself and my child in everyday. The average women uses 25 or more products just getting ready in the morning, and the cosmetic industry is the only industry not regulated by any gov agency. Get that, no one is regulating what you are putting on your body, and your skin being the biggest organ on your body, what you put on you put in. So i got rid of products that i felt had the most influence on my life and the life of my child.

And not only was that stuff going on me, but where was it going from there, down the drain, into the water supply. So thats where the laundry stuff comes into play. All that stuff, in the lakes and streams. And than we drink it.

Organics. I dont like the fact that the average young girl starts her period at 9 or 10, mostly due to increased hormones in dairy. And i dont like all of the antibiotics or pesticides in my food. I like that organic farming is better on the land. I like the fact that studies show Organic foods have up to 34% more vitamins and minerals than non-organic food.

Is that it.....Have i covered it all....No i am not perfect....I still drink coke like it is outta style, and i still get styrofoam at Sonic and McDonalds (but i write them frequently and ask that they stop using it), I still swim in chlorinated pools, use hair dye and am still fat....

But i am trying.....

Open bar and a cake.....I am sooooo there

Whew.... I am feeling better, a little more rested, and in a better place i think mentally since it only took 2 cups of coffee to get me going instead of 6.

So....Last week was the whirlwind i like to call "What happens when your best friend gets married," or "Type A plans a party," whichever you prefer. The week got started off on the 26th with a bachelorette party consisting of scavenger hunts, vibrators and alcohol. Yah. My type of party. Work the next day, not so fun.

Well the river in New Orleans suffered a major oil spill so Jules got to come in days in advance. I spent a better part of the week visiting, taking Coen to swim class and getting him ready for his big trip to Ohio.

Thursday afternoon Denton and Coen left for Ohio and I rested up before heading to the airport Friday night to pick up Sarah. After a nice liquid dinner of Margaritas and a side of cheesy rice we headed to Chris and Nates party. We drank to much, stayed up way to late.

Saturday morning, 1030 am, hungover, breakfast with bride at City Cafe. Hit up some Gymboree for some tax free shopping and went back to chateau Brock for the 4 hour process of getting ready. Hair up, new dress on. Check, out the door.

Terra and Brents wedding was fabulous, and the hottest i have ever been too, sorry sam, you have been replaced. We family and close friends gathered, OUTSIDE, for a short ceremony in front of Oaklands Mansion, and than headed next door for the reception. The bride looked gorgeous in red, yes red.

And so, after many, many, many, many, many, Jack and Cokes, cake, dancing, jumping, singing and hugging, there was the cake....AAHHHHH, the most important part of any good wedding. I went up to Donna, who made the cake and told her i wanted to smack her it was so good (told you too many drinks).... Anyway my fave part was singing arm in arm with Terra and Sarah to "I will survive", just like disco in the apt...

The night fades into a blur of Gentleman Jims and the Pub after that, and after taking Sarah to the airport i waited for my boys to get back....Back to life, back to reality
